Greenberg Traurig’s Pro Bono Focused Podcast Airs Episode 24: Helping a U.S. Serviceman Spend More Time with His Child

NEW YORK – April 20, 2022 –Good in Practice, Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s podcast focused on pro bono, released episode 24 titled “Healing a Family: Helping a U.S. Serviceman Spend More Time with His Child.” Good in Practice is hosted by Shareholder Caroline J. Heller, chair of the global law firm’s Global Pro Bono Program and commercial litigator in the New York office.

In this episode, Heller speaks to Shareholder Jennifer A. Surprenant and Associate Ryan Forman about how they helped an active member of the U.S. military obtain more access to his child. The group discusses how distance due to station locations can affect parent-child relationships and how the possibility of deployment affects custody decisions. They also explain how grandparents’ rights fit in and the importance of an extended family network.

Good in Practice tells the powerful stories of the good pro bono work can achieve, highlighting the work of GT attorneys, staff, and clients. The goal is to encourage all practitioners to assist underserved and vulnerable communities by providing much-needed legal counsel on a volunteer basis.
