Greenberg Traurig Receives ABA Military Pro Bono Project Outstanding Services Award for 2022

NEW YORK – March 23, 2023 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP received the American Bar Association (ABA) Military Pro Bono Project Outstanding Services Award for 2022 for providing a significant amount of legal assistance to servicemembers referred through the Project.

For a law firm to be selected for this award, the ABA requires the firm or corporate law department to accept at least five pro bono cases referred by the Project. In 2022, Greenberg Traurig opened 10 qualifying matters, working on 16 in total. These matters were supported by attorneys from 13 different offices contributing more than 400 hours in total.

Minneapolis Shareholder Peter D. Kieselbach also was honored with an individual award for working on three qualifying cases in 2022. Kieselbach’s matters included assisting an Army staff sergeant in a custody dispute when she was being deployed overseas that resulted in the client securing primary custody, a National Guard member in a residential real estate dispute, and an ongoing representation of a Coast Guard member in a personal property dispute. He worked with several Minneapolis colleagues on these matters, including Shareholder Eric J. Howe, and Associates Whitney A. Mark, Gregory S. Schwartz, and Minho Seo.

“Pro Bono service on behalf of active military servicemembers and veterans is an integral part of Greenberg Traurig’s pro bono program because these groups serve our country at enormous personal sacrifice and providing needed pro bono services to them is the very least we can do,” said Caroline J. Heller, chair of the firm’s Global Pro Bono Program. “It is an honor to be recognized for the hard work Greenberg Traurig attorneys across the United States have done on behalf of veterans and active duty servicemembers.”
