Daniel I. Schloss advises clients in connection with the development, protection, licensing, transfer and commercial exploitation of intellectual property and technology. His practice focuses on brand development and licensing, trademark and copyright registration and protection, and intellectual property counseling in a variety of corporate transactions and financings. Daniel also has deep experience with Internet domain name disputes, trademark and copyright infringement matters, and opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Experience

  • Represented numerous well-known brand owners in clearance and registration of trademarks and in proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Negotiated wide range of trademark and copyright license agreements.
  • Advised clients on issues arising in online businesses, including cybersquatting, copyright infringement, privacy, defamation, and unauthorized access to data.
  • Counseled clients in multiple industries in connection with trademark and copyright infringement actions in federal courts.
  • From March 2005 - July 2006, served as the first-ever in-house intellectual property licensing counsel for the City of New York and its new marketing office. Instrumental in developing the City's first centrally managed trademark licensing program and intellectual property management system; negotiated corporate sponsorship agreements for major events and marketing and promotional activities; and provided legal counseling on a wide range of intellectual property and general transactional issues.
