Former Federal Prosecutor and SEC and FINRA Regulator Robert Long Joins Greenberg Traurig in Dallas

Dallas office continues amplifying its market strength by positioning top talent in specific practice areas

DALLAS – March 6, 2019 – Robert Long, a former federal prosecutor and senior attorney at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), has joined as a shareholder in the Dallas office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP. Long is a veteran of high-stakes investigations and litigation.

Long’s experience at the SEC and FINRA, and time spent as an assistant U.S. attorney and special assistant U.S. attorney, allows him to counsel clients on matters relating to Financial Services Litigation, Federal Regulatory & Administrative Law, and White Collar Defense & Special Investigations.

Greenberg Traurig’s addition of Long follows closely on the heels of hiring three other high-profile attorneys in Texas, where the firm has more than 125 attorneys in three offices. Appellate veteran Elizabeth “Heidi” G. Bloch joined in the firm’s Austin office. Joining in Houston were M&A attorney Carlos Treistman and litigator Katherine Ginzburg Treistman, both former founding partners of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe’s Houston office.

“We are very pleased to welcome Rob to the firm,” said Greenberg Traurig’s Dallas Managing Shareholder Joseph F. Coniglio. “Rob is an exceedingly accomplished lawyer. He brings significant litigation experience and is uniquely qualified to defend regulatory and white collar investigations and prosecutions, as well as advise corporations, hedge funds, broker-dealers, investment advisers, and other market participants on compliance and regulatory matters.”

Long spent more than 10 years at the SEC where he spearheaded enforcement litigation and conducted complex investigations involving insider trading, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) violations, accounting fraud, Ponzi schemes, and market manipulation.

Long is named to the National Law Journal’s list of Cryptocurrency, Blockchain and FinTech Trailblazers, and often speaks on emerging issues related to SEC enforcement before legal and business audiences. In addition, Long is the recipient of two SEC Division of Enforcement Director’s Awards and D Magazine honored him in 2018 as one of the “Best Lawyers in Dallas”.
