Greenberg Traurig’s Hospitality Team Assists With Creation Of The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection

Ritz-Carlton Company first luxury hotel brand to offer custom yacht experiences

Washington, D.C. – July 5, 2017 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP's (GT) Hospitality team recently represented maritime consultants Douglas Prothero and Lars Clasen as well as funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management on the hospitality related documents to create The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, in which Ritz-Carlton will enter the luxury yachting and cruises business. The Ritz-Carlton Company reported that it is the first luxury hotel brand to offer custom yacht experiences.

According to the Ritz-Carlton Company, the first of three yachts is scheduled to set sail in the fourth quarter of 2019 and will travel to destinations including the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, the Caribbean, and Latin America. Voyages will range from seven to 10 days and include overnight and daytime ports of call. Each custom-built yacht will have space for 298 guests. Accommodations will include 149 suites, each with its own balcony, and several luxury penthouses. The cruises will feature destination-based activities with local chefs, artists and musicians, a spa, a signature restaurant and bar with on-board entertainment.
