Venezuela Humanitarian Parole Program Expanded to Cuba, Haiti, and Nicaragua – 30,000 per month for all countries

Laura Reiff, Chair of the Northern Virginia/Washington D.C. Immigration and Compliance Practice, presented a CLE presentation on February 3, 2023 centered around the DHS announcement to expand its Venezuela Parole program to Cuba, Haiti, and Nicaragua. This expansion allows nationals from the stated countries and their immediate family members to request advance authorization for travel and temporary parole for up to two years in the United States, including work authorization.

Key topics to be discussed:
  • The announcement of the expansion of the humanitarian parole program initially begun for nationals of Venezuela and now including nationals from Haiti, Nicaragua and Cuba Harassment
  • The provision of up to 30,000 slots per month for nationals of these four countries
  • The worker shortage in the U.S., which continues to become more acute across industries due to continued Congressional inaction, can only be helped by this new program
  • The bottom line on border security is forcing Congress to act on the broken immigration system and addressing not only the border and asylum problems but fixing our legal immigration system
