Barbara Kaplan, G. Michelle Ferreira Present at 2021 New England IRS Representation Conference

NEW YORK & SAN FRANCISCO – Nov. 15, 2021 – Two shareholders at global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP will participate in the 2021 New England IRS Representation Conference on Nov. 18 and 19. Presenting will be Barbara T. Kaplan, co-chair of the firm’s Global Tax Practice and chair of its New York Tax Practice, and G. Michelle Ferreira, co-managing shareholder of the firm’s San Francisco and Silicon Valley offices.

Kaplan will interview James Lee, the Chief of IRS Criminal Investigations, from 8:40 am – 10:45 am EST on Thursday, Nov. 18., as part of the program titled, “IRS Enforcement Update” According to the conference’s agenda, “over the past several years, the IRS has been challenged to come up with new and more efficient ways to ensure that all taxpayers report and pay the correct amount of tax.” The interviews are designed to provide an update on new developments at the IRS.

Ferreira will join a panel titled, “My Client Lied, The Documents are False. Now What?” on Friday, Nov. 19 from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm EST. The session “will review what the ethical responsibilities are for the tax professional caught in this situation, and what the next steps are to extricate yourself without being charged by the IRS or sued by the taxpayer”.
