Steve Harkins practices products liability litigation, with a focus on pharmaceuticals and multidistrict litigation (“MDL”). He works on products liability matters in both state and federal courts ranging from single plaintiff claims to nationwide consumer class action cases. Steve is involved in defending manufacturers of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, industrial chemicals, and consumer products.
Steve has taken and defended numerous depositions ranging from parties and fact witnesses to opposing experts. He has taken fact witness depositions in products liability cases involving single plaintiff medical device incidents as well as pharmaceutical MDLs. He has taken lead on briefing of numerous aspects of the valsartan MDL and serves as lead on several co-defendant subcommittees within that litigation. He has assisted with briefing to and preparation for appearances before the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation.
Steve previously represented physicians, hospitals, and other health care professionals in medical malpractice claims, and represented property owners in general liability matters. In that capacity he secured multiple dismissals with prejudice on behalf of his clients and handled briefing in the successful appeal of a $22 million medical malpractice verdict before the Georgia Supreme Court.
