Emerson B. Luke

Emerson B. Luke focuses his practice on commercial, trusts and estates, entertainment litigation. His commercial litigation practice includes litigating breach of contract, intellectual property, trade secrets, and real estate disputes. Emerson has experience defending consumer protection class action lawsuits, including those brought under California’s Unfair Competition Law. Emerson also has trusts and estates litigation experience, having represented clients in trust and will contests, conservatorship matters, breach of fiduciary duty cases, and accounting disputes.

Emerson’s entertainment litigation experience includes the representation of studios, managers, and producers in connection with claims arising from motion picture distribution rights, breach of contract, content licensing, residual allocation claims, and participation accounting issues. He represents clients in state court and federal court as well as before the Independent Film & Television Alliance (IFTA) arbitration tribunal.

Additionally, given Emerson’s prior experience working in government – at both the state and local level – in the California State Legislature and most recently in the Los Angeles City Council as Chief Deputy for Legal Affairs and Justice Initiatives for Los Angeles City Council District 10, Emerson helps clients navigate policy and regulatory issues.
