Greenberg Traurig Minneapolis Places First Among Firms on MN-CBAC Legal DE&I Data Project Report

MINNESOTA – Dec. 16, 2022 – The Minneapolis office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP placed first among the law firms on the Minnesota Coalition of Bar Associations of Color (MN-CBAC) & Twin Cities Legal Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (E&I) Data Project, which studies the representation of women and racial/ethnic group members.

“We are proud of our rich tradition of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Since opening the Minneapolis office in February of 2019, we have built a strong team of talented lawyers. We still have work to do, but we could not be more pleased with the results to date. We appreciate the great work of Minnesota Bar Associations and Twin Cities Diversity in Practice in attracting and connecting diverse talent in this market,” said Michael B. Fisco, managing shareholder of the Minneapolis office.

The report shows Greenberg Traurig’s Minneapolis office as having 30 percent representation of racial and ethnic groups. This is more than the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ average ethnic attorney representation of 17 percent, according to the data project report.

In October, two associates in the Minneapolis office received diversity and inclusion awards from Minnesota Lawyer. Ann Motl and Gregory S. Schwartz were recognized for their “significant impact, with respect to diversity and inclusion, on the greater community or within their organizations,” according to the publication. In August, Minneapolis office Shareholder Arleen A. Nand, who is also chair of the firm’s Global Agribusiness Practice, was named a finalist for the Diversity & Inclusion Lawyer of the Year Award by Chambers and Partners. She previously received the Minnesota Lawyer Diversity & Inclusion Award in August 2019.

The MN-CBAC comprises the Minnesota Asian Pacific American Bar Association, the Minnesota Hispanic Bar Association, Minnesota Association of Black Lawyers, and the Minnesota American Indian Bar Association. The coalition’s goal is to advance issues of common interest and concern; provide mutual support and professional development; and collectively improve the legal profession and access to justice in Minnesota.
