Julia (Julie) Mitarotondo advises employers on virtually all aspects of labor and employment law, with a focus on workplace compliance and counseling. She represents local and multi-state employers across various industries on a broad range of employment-related issues, supporting organizations through corporate transactions, complex employee matters, and the development of workplace policies and agreements.

Julie is dedicated to understanding each client’s unique business objectives, offering tailored advice on multi-jurisdictional compliance, employment agreements, employment due diligence, employee leave, workforce restructurings, and confidentiality and restrictive covenant matters. Julie counsels clients on recruitment, performance management, employee complaints, and administering leave and time-off policies. She assists employers with navigating complex wage and hour regulations, disability accommodations, risk mitigation in employee terminations, and maintaining up-to-date compliance with evolving employment laws and trends. With her practical, solution-oriented approach, Julie empowers employers to address workplace challenges with confidence and clarity.

Experience

  • Advises local and multi-state employers on hiring, termination, leaves of absence and drafting employee handbooks and policies, including in the real estate, health care, fashion, and food and beverage industries.
  • Regularly prepare and negotiate employment agreements, restrictive covenant agreements, and separation agreements, including for c-suite and executive-level employees.
  • Regularly analyze and advise on employee classification, including preparing independent contractor agreements.
  • First-chaired FAMLI Division mediation resulting in a low four-figure settlement for client.
  • Second-chaired EEOC mediation resulting in settlement and dismissal of underlying discrimination complaint.
  • Advised on labor and employment aspects of dozens of corporate transactions, including pre-acquisition diligence, transaction documents, and post-closing employee matters, in a variety of industries including health care, accounting, gaming, and HVAC.
  • Represented a contractor in an arbitration before the International Chamber of Commerce arising from the megaproject construction of an oil refinery valued at $8 billion.°
