'Ames': No More 'Groupthink' in Reverse Bias Cases

In June of 2025, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a unanimous decision in Ames v. Ohio Department of Youth Services. In an opinion authored by Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, the Court applied the plain language of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 in rejecting the justification for heightened evidentiary burden in so-called “reverse discrimination” claims.
