Jaret Davis and Fred Karlinsky Recognized in Florida Trend’s ‘Florida 500’ Issue

MIAMI – Nov. 7, 2022Greenberg Traurig, P.A. Shareholders Jaret L. Davis and Fred E. Karlinsky are recognized in Florida Trend’s fifth-annual “Florida 500” issue, which highlights the most influential business leaders throughout the state.

Davis, co-managing shareholder of the Miami office, oversees approximately 170 attorneys and 200 business staff members based in the firm’s founding office. A shareholder in the Corporate Practice, he focuses his work on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, capital markets transactions, and large financings. For over a decade, Davis has led the efforts of the Miami office and played a key role in the firm’s global efforts to be a dominant player in the technology industry. The vast majority of his clients are technology players, including information technology companies, life sciences and biotech companies, and companies focused on renewable energy sources. Under his leadership, the Miami office has been a thought leader in representing angel investors, venture capital firms, and growth equity funds, as well as technology companies at all life stages, from inception to initial public offerings. Led by Davis, the firm’s Miami Venture Capital and Emerging Technology Practice has received a metropolitan first-tier ranking in the 2023 U.S. News – Best Lawyers® “Best Law Firms” report.

Davis also serves in civic capacities that allow him to leverage his professional interests to assist the South Florida community, including positioning it as a major technology and entrepreneurial hub. He is a co-founder and general counsel of eMerge Americas and a former chair of the Miami-Dade Beacon Council, in which capacity he led Miami’s bid to obtain Amazon’s HQ2 headquarters, resulting in Miami being named a finalist. In addition, Davis serves as a board member and innovation committee chair for City National Bank.

Karlinsky, a shareholder in the firm’s Fort Lauderdale and Tallahassee offices, co-chairs the global Insurance Regulatory and Transactions Practice Group Greenberg Traurig. Karlinsky has 30+ years of experience representing insurers, reinsurers, and other insurance-related entities. He is a recognized authority on insurance regulatory and compliance issues and regularly leads insurers’ corporate and mergers and acquisitions transactions. Selected to serve in civic leadership posts, he has been a member of the Florida Supreme Court Judicial Nominating Commission since 2014 and currently serves as chair. He also has served on the Florida Constitution Revision Commission and the 17th Judicial Circuit Nominating Commission and has been an adjunct professor at the Florida State University College of Law since 2008. Karlinsky recently was named to City & State Florida’s inaugural “Florida Power 100” list, which recognizes Floridians who play key roles in state government and politics, and to Florida Politics’ “Influence 150” list of the most influential figures in Florida politics.

Florida Trend’s Florida 500 seeks to identify the state’s 500 most influential executives across more than 60 business categories. The publication also recognizes Greenberg Traurig’s Cesar L.
