Robert Turner advises on complex, cross-border commercial transactions and regulatory matters across the Sports and Entertainment sectors, acting for some of the world's most prominent rights-holders, brands and platforms on matters that span the full commercial lifecycle – from high-value B2B transactions through to consumer-facing regulatory compliance. His practice is distinctive in combining deep transactional experience with hands-on regulatory experience, enabling him to advise clients not only on how to structure and execute major commercial arrangements but also on how to navigate the scrutiny those high-profile arrangements can attract.

Robert’s transactional practice spans some of the most significant commercial deals in global sport. He is a leading advisor on hospitality and ticketing arrangements for live events, acting for the world’s leading sports international governing body on the appointment of the Official Hospitality Provider for a major international sporting event – described at the time as the ‘biggest commercial contract in sports’ – and the IOC on the appointment of On Location as the Official Hospitality Provider for both the Paris 2024 and Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. He has acted for multiple Premier League clubs on venue hire agreements and summer tour operator programmes.

Robert’s high-value commercial partnership work spans some of the most recognised brands and clubs in world sport. He advises leading rights-holders, such as Arsenal FC on its technical partner agreement with adidas and its naming rights and shirt sponsorship agreements with Emirates, England Rugby on the renewal of its O2 shirt sponsorship and a leading Premier League club on its $1 billion technical partnership agreement with Nike. Robert also advises on the sponsor-side of commercial partnerships, such as acting for DXC Technology on its shirt sponsorship of Manchester United FC.

Robert’s regulatory experience includes advising clients across sports, entertainment, media, and other sectors, on their obligations when selling to, or otherwise interacting with, consumers – and represents them when those obligations are called into question. He acted as lead advisor on the defence of a high-profile investigation by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) into the pricing and sales practices of a leading international ticketing platform. He has also defended multiple other clients under investigation by the CMA and Advertising Standards Authority, and has advised a range of businesses on consumer-facing compliance across pricing, promotions, and digital sales practices. Robert has also advised a number of clients on the application of consumer protection and distance contract laws to OTT subscription models.

This combination of transactional and regulatory capability reflects Robert’s view that the most effective sports and entertainment counsel understands not only how to get a deal done, but how that deal will be received – by regulators, by consumers, and by the public. Clients return to Robert because he brings both commercial acumen and regulatory awareness to every engagement.

Robert Turner is recognised as a Next Generation Partner for Sport in the Legal 500 UK 2026, where he is praised for his commercial acumen and experience in high-value sponsorship and commercial agreements.
