Chemical and Pesticide Regulation
CONOCE AL EQUIPO >Practice Overview
Greenberg Traurig’s deep bench of legal and regulatory professionals address a broad range of chemical and pesticide regulatory and enforcement matters under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) and state regulatory programs. We regularly advise on federal per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) regulation, new chemical introductions and the impact of state-level statutes and regulatory programs (especially PFAS).
We work closely with our clients and EPA on projects including registration of new and follow-on crop protection, biopesticide and antimicrobial products, troubleshooting and expediting applications prepared by others, data compensation, registration review and data call-in response. We also handle a range of regulatory and private plaintiff pesticide-related litigation. We support TSCA compliance, including with respect to imports, SNUR, and consent order compliance and enforcement response. We coordinate compound-specific and risk assessment advocacy, including particularly with respect to legacy hazard assessments under the IRIS program, and emerging regulatory target compounds. In coordination with our offices throughout the United States and globally, we also assist clients with state-specific and international regulatory issues, seeking to accomplish our clients’ goals consistently across jurisdictions.
Our team includes attorneys, scientists and regulatory professionals well positioned to assist clients throughout the chemical supply chain and through the full product lifecycle. The team leverages the firm’s global platform and collaborates with colleagues across disciplines and jurisdictions — including our Corporate and International Trade practice groups — to provide coordinated, multidisciplinary support to clients on substance regulatory and related issues. We provide coordinated guidance tailored to each client’s needs.
Working with our corporate, real estate and finance practices, our chemicals and pesticides team supports corporate transactions by identifying potential regulatory liabilities, quantifying compliance costs, and developing strategies for risk mitigation and regulatory compliance. In addition, we provide regulatory audits for mergers and acquisitions pertaining to FIFRA-regulated products.
