Advanced Data Privacy, Cybersecurity and TCPA Class Action Litigation 2022

PLI's Advanced Data Privacy, Cybersecurity and TCPA Class Action Litigation 2022 program will address the hottest trends, latest case law, and most important strategy decisions that companies and their counsel need to know for 2022. The program will also address CCPA litigation after the first years’ experience; worsening circuit splits in cybersecurity class action litigation; new developments in biometric, IoT and other state law privacy claims; privilege issues in security breach cases; and how the current Administration is seeking to frame privacy issues in terms of antitrust claims.

Greenberg Traurig's Ian C. Ballon, Co-Chair of the Global Intellectual Property & Technology Practice Group, is Chair of the program and will deliver opening remarks before leading the "Cybersecurity and Privacy Case Law and Strategic Trends – Year in Review" session. The session will cover the major new cases and trends from the past year in the law of data privacy, security breach and TCPA class action suits. Ballon will also moderate the Judges panel, "How Judges Want Parties to Litigate Data Privacy, Security Breach Class Action Suits," and the in-house counsel panel, "Strategies for Defending a Company and Partnering with Outside Counsel."

Jena M. Valdetero, U.S. Co-Chair of Greenberg Traurig's Data, Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice, will be a speaker on the "Ransomware Litigation" panel. The panel will address unique legal, business, and process issues surrounding a ransomware attack and outline how these issues subsequently play out in class action litigation, including substantive and procedural law issues and how to value and settle ransomware cases.
