2024 International Trademark Association (INTA) Conference

Greenberg Traurig Trademark & Brand Management attorneys will present various panels and table topics during the 2024 International Trademark Association (INTA) Conference in Atlanta, GA. INTA is a not-for-profit membership association dedicated to the support and advancement of trademarks and related intellectual property as elements of fair and effective commerce; the annual meeting attracts over 9,500 attendees from more than 140 countries and is the largest gathering of brand owners and IP professionals in the world.

On Monday, May 20, Shareholder Joel Feldman, co-chair of the Global Trademark & Brand Management Group, will moderator the Professors Panel, "To Infinity and Beyond – What is the Proper Scope of Trademark Protection for Characters After Their Copyrights Expire?" The panel of professors will delve into the complexities at the intersection of trademark protectability and the public domain by discussing the current legal landscape and forward-looking perspectives on how the law should evolve with respect to simultaneously serving the public interest of public domain and protecting consumers from confusion in a post-copyright era. Joel will also moderate the Professor v. Practitioner Debate, "Resolved: The territoriality of trademark law has become obsolete," on May 20. On May 21, Of Counsel Phil Marano will present the Domain Enforcement session, "New Tools for Seeking Information and Enforcing Trademark Rights: It’s on new practice tools for domain name enforcement." Lastly, Joel Feldman is also organizing the panel "Candid Conversations with Leading DEI Voices."

Beginning on May 18, Shareholder Steve Baird will presenter the table topic, "Who SHOULD Sign Trademark Declarations Filed With the USPTO?," and Associate Mikhael Tomlinson will present the table topic, "Honey, I got us Sued: What the Social Media/Marketing Team Does When Legal Isn't Looking.” On May 21, Joel Feldman will present the table topics, "Beliefs & Branding: Harmonizing Your Company’s Trademark and Brand Management Strategies with Its Values and Ethos," and "Maximizing Common-Law Rights and Mitigating Enforcement Risks Following a USPTO Refusal to Register." Lastly, on May 22, Associate Kristen Van Dyke will present the table topic, "Another One Bites the Dust: The Impact of Vidal v. Elster.
