Perfil
Robert Kearney represents multinational companies, private equity funds, and other clients in complex commercial litigation, bankruptcy litigation, and cross-border disputes in state and federal courts. His practice focuses on high-stakes business conflicts, including claims of fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, misappropriation, shareholder disputes, and joint venture disputes, as well as judgment enforcement and asset recovery matters. Robert also handles litigation under the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act and discovery applications under 28 U.S.C. § 1782, providing clients with experience in disputes involving sovereign entities, offshore corporate structures, and international evidence gathering.
Robert regularly advises on matters in which the parties, evidence, and assets are located in multiple countries. He coordinates litigation strategy and discovery efforts across foreign jurisdictions, routinely develops factual records from complex financial and foreign-language materials, and works closely with clients and co-counsel to advance broader case objectives. His experience includes drafting dispositive motions, pleadings, and appellate briefs.
Before entering private practice, Robert served as a judicial law clerk in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Connecticut and the Maryland Circuit Court for Baltimore City. He also served as a law clerk with the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary, where he supported work on legislative and policy matters.
