Rebecca Meads is a Shareholder and Chair of the London White Collar Defense & Investigations Team, focusing on business crime and regulatory investigations. Rebecca acts for individuals and corporates in cases of complex fraud, white collar crime, bribery and corruption, and regulatory matters. She has wide-ranging experience in domestic and international investigations and prosecutions, including those brought by the Serious Fraud Office the Financial Conduct Authority, and the Crown Prosecution Service, and those brought by, or on behalf of, overseas enforcement agencies.

Rebecca acts for a range of corporates, across various sectors, conducting complex and often sensitive internal investigations; providing representation in external investigations; and giving advice on compliance issues.

Due to her multi-jurisdictional practice, Rebecca’s clients are often the subject of cross-border investigations and litigation. She has extensive experience advising in parallel proceedings and in coordinating multi-disciplinary teams of professionals.

Rebecca’s work includes acting for HNW and high-profile individuals facing extradition proceedings and providing advice on mutual legal assistance. She regularly advises on INTERPOL Red Notice matters and has an excellent success rate securing their deletion.

She has represented high-profile individuals and corporates involved in major public inquiries and inquests, including involvement in the Stockwell inquiries/ inquest, Leveson inquiry and Grenfell Tower inquiry. Her inquest work includes acting for a high-profile diplomat, as well as corporate bodies.

  • Represented Simon Marshall, former director of Serco Geografix Ltd, in the SFO’s long running investigation and prosecution arising from the company’s highly publicised DPA, Mr Marshall was acquitted following the collapse of the SFO’s case.°
  • Advised in the Metropolitation Police investigation into possible corporate manslaughter offences arising from the Grenfell Tower tragedy.°
  • Represented a former director of a large Plc. under investigation by the FCA for insider dealing. The FCA took no further action against the client.°
  • Advised a multinational in the mining industry and conducted an internal investigation concerning overseas bribery and provided advice on self-reporting.°
  • Represented a former financial controller of an international group of companies servicing oil and gas sectors in a prosecution for overseas bribery brought by the SFO. The allegations related to allegedly corrupt payments to agents of Nigerian State Boards of Internal Revenue for the purpose of avoiding, deferring, or mitigating the tax liabilities of the company for whom the defendants worked. The client was acquitted.°
  • Represented an SSA trader in a dual UK/U.S. investigation by the FCA, DoJ, and SEC for alleged insider dealing and market manipulation of the $9 trillion agency bond market. At the conclusion of its investigation, the FCA took no further action against the client.°
  • Advised an individual on cryptocurrency compliance and potential criminal/regulatory breaches.°
  • Assisted in the co-ordination of a global strategy to protect the rights of two ultra-high-net-worth individuals subject to a false criminal investigation.°
  • Advised a prominent international human rights campaigner, defending against attacks by the Russian state.°
  • Advised a high-profile Indian businessman in potential extradition proceedings and parallel litigation.°
  • Represented a high-profile individual in extradition proceedings further to a request from the Russian Federation. The request was discharged on the basis that his extradition would breach Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights.°
  • Represented a high profile individual at the Leveson Inquiry, regarding allegations of corruption between journalists and serving Metropolitan Police Officers.°
