ABA 39th Annual National Institute on Criminal Tax Fraud and 12th Annual National Institute on Tax Controversy

New York shareholder and Co-Chair of the firm's Global Tax Practice, Barbara Kaplan and San Francisco and Silicon Valley co-managing shareholder, Michelle Ferreira will be speaking at the American Bar Association 39th Annual National Institute on Criminal Tax Fraud and 12th Annual National Institute on Tax Controversy held on Dec. 12 - 14. The American Bar Association Criminal Tax Fraud/Tax Controversy 2022 is the yearly gathering of the criminal tax controversy and criminal tax defense bar. This program brings together high-level government representatives, judges, corporate counsel, and private practitioners engaged in all aspects of tax controversy, tax litigation, and criminal tax prosecutions and defense.


Ferreira will present on a panel titled, "Civil Workshop - It's a World of Depositions: Discovery in the Tax Court and the Federal Dist. Cts." on Dec 12. Topics will include depositions in Tax Court and the evolution of discovery in Tax Court. On Dec. 13, Kaplan will present a panel titled, "Ethical Issues in Zealously Protecting Constitutional and Other Privileges," where the panel will address constitutional and common law privileges and how they present fundamental ethical issues.
