Christian Brito focuses his practice on national insurance regulatory and compliance matters. Christian represents a wide variety of entities in the insurance industry, including insurers, reinsurers, managing general agencies, producers, third-party administrators, and claims companies, with regulatory, transactional, corporate, and governmental affairs matters. Christian regularly advises clients on operational issues and a complete array of regulatory and compliance issues, including licensure and corporate amendment applications, business expansion initiatives, solvency and statutory accounting issues, rate and form filings, and financial and market conduct examinations. Christian is also experienced in transactional law, governmental affairs, administrative law, and corporate representation, and is a frequent author on trends and developments in the national and Florida insurance markets.

Experience

  • Represented an investment management firm in its acquisition of a majority ownership interest of a leading insurance company from majority shareholders.
  • Represented controlling owners of an insurance holding company in the acquisition of two leading regional insurance companies and an affiliated managing general agency from majority shareholders.
  • Represented acquiring and selling parties in connection with more than a dozen Form A Acquisition applications in multiple United States jurisdictions.
  • Provided legal and regulatory representation in connection with the formation, structuring, capitalization and licensure of multiple insurance companies.
  • Provided national regulatory representation in the expansion of operations of insurers and other corporate amendment transactions for insurers throughout the country.
  • Assisted numerous insurers in a variety of regulatory filings and approvals including rate, rule and form approvals, holding company compliance issues, financial and market conduct examinations, affiliate entity transactions, regulated investments, and assisted in resolving numerous trade practice issues.
  • Represented insurers in litigation, regulatory compliance, claims administration, and coverage matters, with a focus on annuities, long-term care insurance, and life insurance matters.°
  • Advised insurance and annuity companies in dispute resolution and litigation matters arising out of the transfer of structured settlement payment rights in jurisdictions throughout the United States.°
