Profile
Lily is a trusted advisor to companies facing complex, high-stakes workplace and business challenges. She serves as outside general counsel to companies with domestic and international operations, managing comprehensive legal portfolios across Greenberg Traurig’s global platform — spanning employment, corporate transactions, commercial contracts, cybersecurity and data privacy, intellectual property, governance, immigration, tax, and managing their litigation. Lily represents clients across a wide range of industries — adapting her counsel to each organization’s business objectives while her practical approach to complex issues stays constant.
Within the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice, Lily advises founders, CEOs, executive teams, boards, and human resources leaders on high-impact decisions, and partners with companies to implement employment compliance programs.
Compliance & Wage and Hour: Lily counsels employers on multi-state wage and hour compliance, such as issues involving exempt and non-exempt classification, pay practices, scheduling and timekeeping, and workforce issues that grow more complex as headcount and geography expand. She conducts internal compliance and wage and hour audits, translates findings into remediation plans, and reports outcomes to executive stakeholders. She also tracks emerging regulation ahead of enforcement — so clients can adapt on their own timeline rather than in response to a claim.
Counseling: Lily provides strategic advice on virtually all employment matters. She guides employers on how to handle sticky situations with employees while keeping business needs and risk-mitigation at the forefront. Lily is a go-to point of contact for advice surrounding areas such as new and emerging laws, improving employee relations, parental leave, pay transparency, biometrics, wage and hour laws, background checks, drug and alcohol tests, reasonable accommodations, leaves of absence, sick leave, conduct issues, social media activity impacting work, discrimination and harassment mitigation, artificial intelligence, and workplace safety response.
Policies & Procedures: Lily works closely with clients to draft and implement human resources policies and handbooks. Her handbooks reflect the company’s operating reality and culture, are tailored to each business, and are written to solidify the company’s benefits and its expectations of employees. Because what is written in an employee-facing policy matters little if it is not followed in practice, Lily also partners with clients to create engaging, user-friendly guides and procedures for employees, management, HR, and legal teams.
Agreements & Corporate Deals: Lily is a go-to source for creating employment documents of all types — offer letters, employment agreements, arbitration agreements, non-solicits, non-competes, confidential information agreements, IP protection agreements, independent contractor agreements, commission and bonus agreements, and severance packages. She also supports corporate transactions, handling labor and employment due diligence, integration planning, and the proactive steps that set companies up for post-acquisition success with their people.
Engaging Trainings: Lily regularly conducts workforce trainings on new and emerging employment trends, inclusive workplaces, managing and disciplining employees, conducting investigations and background checks, complying with wage and hour laws, and providing accommodations and leaves of absence. She also delivers practical, relatable trainings on maintaining discrimination- and harassment-free workplaces that not only comply with employment laws but build positive workplace cultures and brands.
Investigations: When allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, or unfair treatment arise, clients call on Lily to conduct investigations and resolve employee complaints. She handles investigations of all sizes and sensitivity levels, from front-line matters to allegations involving senior leadership, and counsels on both individual and systemic remediation.
Labor Relations: When a union or the threat of one is involved, Lily advises employers across the spectrum of labor relations matters, including handling employee grievances, managing employee performance, and responding to union organizing campaigns. She has second-chaired numerous collective bargaining negotiations and has represented employers in labor arbitrations and in National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) proceedings.
Charge and Litigation Experience: Lily represents clients against charges of discrimination filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and state agencies, and against wage claims filed with the Department of Labor (DOL), obtaining many dismissals on behalf of her clients. Having litigated employment cases earlier in her career — taking and defending depositions, arguing motions, and drafting briefs — she now serves as relationship partner on state and federal single-plaintiff, class, and collective actions involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, and Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) claims. She draws on that experience every time she counsels a client.
Lily co-chairs the Greenberg Traurig Women’s Initiative (GTWI) in the Arizona office, serves as a mentor, and presents regularly on employment best practices.
