Andrew (“Drew”) Morrill is a commercial litigator with a primary focus on intellectual property disputes, including patent, trade secret, trademark, and copyright litigation. His practice spans a variety of industries, including telecommunications systems, cloud and containerization platforms, industrial automation software, machine vision, and medical devices. Along with intellectual property disputes, Drew has deep experience litigating cases involving contract disputes and business torts.

Drew has been involved in all stages of litigation from pre-suit diligence through trial. He manages day-to-day case teams and drives complex litigation across discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation. He has argued key motions, second-chaired witness examinations, and taken and defended fact and expert depositions. He also works alongside technical and damages experts developing offensive and defensive liability and damages positions, and assists in the preparation of expert reports and testimony.

Drew earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of California, Irvine School of Law, where he served as Editor in Chief of the UC Irvine Law Review. He also holds a B.S. in biochemistry from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, where he conducted polymer synthesis and coatings research. He maintains an active pro bono practice with a focus on issues impacting veterans and unhoused residents of Los Angeles.

  • Represented a software company in a trade secret, copyright, and breach of contract case involving health care software and related consulting services. After a week-long trial, the jury awarded compensatory and punitive damages totaling $855 million.°
  • Represented a global manufacturer of digital two-way radio technology in a trade secret misappropriation and copyright infringement case in connection with a global dispute over critical wireless technologies. Developed and assisted with presenting the damages case over the course of a three-and-a-half-month trial, including the preparation of direct and cross examinations of the damages expert witnesses at trial, ultimately resulting in a $764 million jury verdict.°
  • Represented a global beverage company in a trademark infringement action. The District Court granted summary judgment in client’s favor, resulting in a complete victory.°
  • Represented a global technology company in a contract and patent infringement dispute involving cloud computing technology. Managed the damages team throughout the case, which resulted in a favorable settlement agreement before trial.°
  • Represented a medical device and technology company in a patent infringement suit involving spinal screws and implants, resulting in a favorable jury verdict.°
  • Represented technology company providing platform for online customer service, in action for patent infringement, trade secret misappropriation, and other torts, resulting in a favorable jury verdict.°
  • Represented technology company providing software and hardware for object tracking, including athletes during televised sporting events in action for trade secret misappropriation and incorrect inventorship, among other torts.°
  • Co-lead counsel in a civil rights matter on behalf of unhoused individuals and a nonprofit organization against the City of Los Angeles that resulted in terminating sanctions and a finding of liability following discovery misconduct by the City.°
  • Represented a tenant in an unlawful detainer proceeding resulting in a complete victory for the client.°
