Vanessa Palacio is a trial attorney and registered patent attorney who focuses her practice on bet-the-company, intellectual property, technology, equine law, and life sciences matters. Vanessa has first and second-chaired trials in a wide range of cases and knows the importance of tailoring litigation strategies to suit individual clients and circumstances. She has prepared fact and expert witnesses for deposition and trial and has taken and defended numerous depositions. Vanessa has also researched, drafted, and argued motions in state and federal court, negotiated and drafted settlement agreements, and handled mediations, arbitrations, appeals, and extraordinary writ petitions.

  • Represented client in arbitration hearing related to ownership of patented tools and technology for the oil and gas industry, resulting in award for successful transfer of ownership of tools and technology to client.
  • Represented clients in complex fraud case related to cross-border purchase of seven-figure grand prix show-jumping horse.
  • First chaired trial in breach of contract case between former business partners concerning multiple real estate holdings.°
  • Represented watch and jewelry store and first chaired trial in breach of contract case with complex issues involving valuation.°
  • Represented jewelry retailer and first chaired hearings, obtaining emergency temporary injunction and later permanent injunctive relief to protect client’s business.°
  • Represented luxury jewelry and specialty retailer in private arbitration proceedings related to construction defect at store location.°
  • Represented historic watch and jewelry company in adversary proceeding against former counsel arising from legal malpractice and botched bankruptcy.°
  • Represented client in cross-border intellectual property dispute involving iconic packaging for alcohol brand.°
  • Represented party in a malpractice case arising from ten-figure litigation under the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act, 28 U.S.C. 1605 and researched and drafted response to Petition for Writ of Certiorari regarding attorney disqualification, resulting in a favorable outcome for client.°
  • Represented a trustee in multijurisdictional proceedings supplementary related to a $100 million settlement.°
  • Second chaired a six-figure trial against the government related to breach of contract and productivity damages in a construction case.°
  • Second chaired an arbitration related to enforcement of a settlement agreement concerning over $30 million in assets.°
  • Represented client in a real estate, land use, and development dispute against the government, researching and drafting initial appellate and reply briefs regarding sanctions, resulting in a favorable outcome for client and reversal of lower court’s decision.°
  • Represented a client in a contract and real estate dispute, researching and drafting initial appellate and reply briefs, and resulting in a favorable outcome for client and reversal of lower court’s decision.°
