ATLANTA – Oct. 3, 2023 –Andrew Z. Smith, a Litigation associate in global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Atlanta office, has been named to Georgia Trend magazine’s 2023 “40 Under 40” list, which recognizes the state’s best and brightest professionals under the age of 40.
According to Georgia Trend, this honor celebrates those who are rising in their professions and passionate about community service, particularly those whose involvement and commitment goes well beyond what they are paid to do.
Smith focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation and business disputes, as well as data and privacy protection issues, products liability, and insurance coverage litigation. He has broad experience in electronic discovery, including advising clients regarding the collection, search, and production of data. Additionally, he has experience with litigation counseling, including security preparedness and data breach response coverage.
Outside of his legal practice, Smith is involved in various community and industry groups, including serving on the board of trustees for Quality Care for Children, the Young Alumni/Alumna Committee for University of Georgia Law School, and both the National and Atlanta Leadership Counsels for Lambda Legal.
In addition to his leadership roles, he is a member of the Stonewall Bar Association, a professional organization advocating for the rights of LGBTQ+ people and has participated in OutLeadership’s OutNEXT Summit, a global talent development program for emerging LGBTQ+ executives. At Greenberg Traurig, Smith serves as the chair of the Atlanta office’s Associates Committee, where he also previously served as the Pro Bono Committee chair for three years.
Most recently, Smith participated in LEAD Atlanta 2023, an intensive eight-month leadership development and community education program targeted at promising young professionals in Metro Atlanta where he worked with the Dar un Noor Academy of Midtown Atlanta, a Pre-K through 12 Islamic educational institution, to develop a strategic plan to drive community engagement and student retention.
Smith’s legal work and community endeavors have been recognized by the Atlanta Business Chronicle, naming him a “Rising Star” at their 2021 Corporate Citizenship Awards. He has also been named to the Super Lawyers magazine and Simply Buckhead magazine “Rising Star” lists. Additionally, Smith was shortlisted as a “Future Leader” in Chambers Diversity & Inclusion Awards: North America.
