Dr. Martin Hamer

Martin Hamer is a partner in the Environmental Group in Germany. He focuses on environmental matters and climate protection as well as on energy and planning law issues. Martin represents clients in complex permit procedures vis-à-vis public authorities, land development projects and lawsuits. In addition, he advises on environmental and other regulatory matters in corporate and real estate transactions. Amongst his clients are manufacturers, energy suppliers, private equity funds and project developers. Martin also advises governments and business associations.

Martin has been recognized in the 2019 edition of Best Lawyers in Germany in the category Environmental Law. He has published numerous articles on environmental matters. He recently published an article on a mining and environmental law topic in the Fall 2019 edition of the American Bar Association’s online journal Natural Resources & Environment. Furthermore, Martin is also co-author of the legal commentary on the German Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading Act in the publication Berliner Kommentar zum Energierecht.

Prior to joining the firm, Martin worked as a partner at the UK law firm Olswang in Berlin and spent more than ten years with the environmental, planning and regulatory group at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
