Alayne Opie is a shareholder in the firm’s commercial litigation group. She is a litigator with deep experience representing businesses and their executives in a wide range of matters. She has represented clients before administrative bodies, regulatory boards, in arbitration, state, federal and multidistrict courts. Alayne’s experience often takes her across state lines, having practiced in Nevada, California, Florida, New Jersey, New York, Delaware and elsewhere, servicing the needs of clients based in those states, as well as internationally in England, Nigeria and BVI, etc. Her diverse client base affords her the opportunity to address the needs of publicly traded companies to local mom and pop shops, and everything in between, in a wide array of industries, including but not limited to casinos, gaming, gas & oil, agriculture, telecommunications, automotive, real estate, storage, professional services, entertainment, etc. While her practice touches on all disputes affecting businesses and professionals, she is best versed in class actions, derivative lawsuits, member/manager fiduciary claims, TCPA claims, trust and estate litigation, securities suits, commercial landlord/tenant and breach of contract matters. - Defended well known adult entertainment venue in class action litigation where independent contractors sought to retract prior contractual agreement and pursues employment wages and benefits.
- Represented large hotel and casino in Las Vegas in connection with allegations of violating Nevada’s condominium-hotel statues, NRS 116B.
- Obtained early summary judgement in construction dispute litigation, potentially saving client tens of thousands of dollars.
- Defended drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility against mass tort claims and prospect for multidistrict litigation leading to settlement resolutions.°
- Obtained multiple dismissals of lawsuits against mortgage lenders and servicers involving claims of fraud and alleged violations of Nevada’s Homeowners Bill of Rights.
- Obtained dismissal of punitive damages claim with potential value in excess of $50 million.
- Represented a gaming technology provider against claims of fraud where plaintiff sought exemplary damages.
- Obtained full dismissal in gaming matter post 5-year patron gaming dispute.
