Greenberg Traurig Hosts Angeles Investors Q1 Meeting and Pitch Night; Four Firms Pitch for Investment Funds

MIAMI– March 1, 2022 – Greenberg Traurig Shareholder Nanette Aguirre hosted Angeles Investors Q1 meeting and Pitch Night at the firm’s Miami office on Friday, Feb. 24, where four firms vied for investment funds.

Cesar L. Alvarez, Greenberg Traurig’s senior chairman, delivered the opening remarks for the day-long event, and stressed the importance of standing united to help build the Latin community of entrepreneurs in Miami and throughout the country.

In a fireside chat, Aguirre discussed the importance of creating a pathway for investors to access the fast-growing community of Hispanic and Latinx businesses with Anyori (AJ) Hernandez, the newly appointed president and CEO of New America Alliance, an organization comprised of alternative investment executives committed to increasing access to capital for women and minority asset managers. Hernandez is the former director of the Emerging Manager Program at the New York State Common Retirement Fund.

Hernandez expressed the importance of being efficient when presenting pitches and shared three key points to keep in mind: “Spend time understanding who you are seeking to raise capital from and target the right match for your business, spend time preparing a thoughtful and concise deck, and spend time streamlining your pitch. Time is of the essence.”

Aguirre, a corporate shareholder based in Greenberg Traurig’s New York office, focuses on alternative investments, with an emphasis on derivatives, repurchase transactions and structured products as well as corresponding regulation. Nanette is an active member of the alternative investment community and passionate about the advancement of emerging managers and Latinx entrepreneurs including their access to capital to expand their growth. Nanette is a member of New America Alliance, and on the board of: National Associations of Securities Professionals, Florida Alternative Investment Association, and Minorities in Restructuring and Alternative Investments.
