Greenberg Traurig Advises ENGIE on Acquisition of a Wind Farm with 32 Wind Turbines

BERLIN – Nov. 18, 2025 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig advised the ENGIE Group on the acquisition of an onshore wind farm in Bad Berleburg, North Rhine-Westphalia. Construction has already begun on the 32 wind turbines with a planned total capacity of 212 megawatts. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

Once fully operational by 2027, the wind farm will generate around 500,000 megawatt-hours of green electricity annually, which is roughly equivalent to supplying around 142,000 households with climate-friendly energy. The transaction also includes project rights for additional sites currently under development. With the acquisition of the wind farm, ENGIE is doubling its wind portfolio in Germany.

ENGIE plans, builds, operates, and markets wind, photovoltaic, and hydroelectric power plants, as well as pumped storage and battery storage facilities. The energy group also trades in electricity and gas, offers interdisciplinary engineering solutions in the fields of energy and infrastructure, and is one of the leading natural gas storage operators in Germany.

The Greenberg Traurig team advised ENGIE on the transaction, including legal due diligence, negotiation of the purchase agreement, and structuring of further project development.
