Assessing and Protecting Intellectual Property Value in Joint Ventures
Presented by: Jerry Fellows and Steve Bartz
Protection of a business’s intellectual property rights is vital to its competitiveness, growth prospects, and market value, and the significance and weight of this fact grows with each passing year. When forming a joint venture, failing to think through the JV’s IP inputs and outputs when establishing the JV, as well as how those may evolve and be affected by various scenarios throughout the JV’s lifecycle, may jeopardize the success and value ultimately created by the contemplated JV. We will explore IP-related issues that co-venturers should carefully consider when entering into a joint venture.
Litigation/Compliance Track:
Ethics Lessons from La-La Land
Presented by: Alicia Voltmer and Amanda Williams
Whether on the big or small screens, legal dramas and comedies continue to captivate audiences with their sticky-wicket ethical issues and dilemmas. But do the characters get it right? In this session, we will examine a number of these issues and dilemmas through the application of both the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct and the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct. Enjoy your popcorn and Junior Mints as you earn ethics credit.
