Anke Johann is a shareholder in the Finance Practice. She focuses on banking and finance law, with a particular focus on complex real estate financings, restructurings, and covered bond (Pfandbrief) law. Anke Johann advises German and international banks, financial institutions, private equity funds, and debt funds on all aspects of structured finance transactions, including the acquisition and development of real estate, senior and mezzanine financings, and cross-border lending.
With more than a decade of experience, Anke Johann has developed a reputation for handling intricate financing projects and financial restructurings. She regularly advises on German, pan-European, and U.S. lending transactions as well as on the structuring and work-out of distressed assets.
Anke Johann is recognized for her experience in advising covered bond (Pfandbrief) issues and on regulatory matters. She is noted by clients for her pragmatic approach and deep understanding of the market dynamics in real estate finance.
Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, Anke Johann was a partner at Goodwin Procter in Munich. Earlier in her career, she spent over ten years as Senior Legal Counsel at Deutsche Pfandbriefbank (pbb), where she advised on complex financing and restructurings. Following the financial crisis, Anke Johann played a key role in the liquidation of the European operations of the Babcock & Brown group, and supported FMS Wertmanagement, a German public institution, in the restructuring of defaulting loan portfolios and the sale of distressed assets to international investors.
