Michael Morrill is a commercial litigator who represents financial institutions, fintech companies, and other providers of financial products and services in high-stakes business disputes, government enforcement actions, regulatory examinations, and internal investigations. His practice spans consumer class actions, CFPB and DOJ enforcement matters, FTC investigations, and state attorney general actions. A former judicial clerk on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, Michael brings a strong appellate perspective to complex disputes that often shape regulatory and legal precedent.

Michael has litigated consumer class actions nationwide under the Truth in Lending Act, Electronic Fund Transfer Act, Military Lending Act, and unfair and deceptive trade practices statutes. He defends banks and fintech companies in investigations and enforcement actions brought by the CFPB, DOJ, FTC, and state attorneys general.

He also advises senior executives in connection with complex DOJ and congressional investigations, guiding strategy and managing parallel proceedings. In addition, Michael leads internal investigations and advises clients on designing and strengthening compliance programs to address regulatory, operational, and reputational risk. His ability to move between litigation defense, regulatory enforcement, and internal counseling enables him to provide a coordinated, practical approach to clients’ most challenging legal and business issues.
