Carlos Sugich is a Shareholder in Greenberg Traurig’s Phoenix office and Managing Shareholder of the firm’s Los Cabos office, as well as Co-Chair of the firm’s Americas Hospitality Practice. He represents developers, institutional investors, lenders, and hospitality operators in complex domestic and cross-border real estate transactions across the United States, Mexico, and Latin America, including acquisitions, development, financing, and operations involving hospitality, mixed-use, residential, commercial, condominium, and industrial real estate projects.

Licensed in both Arizona and Mexico, Carlos has more than 20 years of experience advising U.S. and international clients on large-scale developments, master-planned communities, branded residential and resort projects, and industrial and manufacturing-related facilities. His experience includes joint ventures, structuring, development, construction, entitlements, condominium formation, hotel management and license agreements, and the organization and preparation of membership plans and related documents for private golf and social clubs. He also represents lenders and investors in real estate-backed financings and complex cross-border transactions.

Carlos additionally advises clients on nearshoring initiatives, manufacturing operations in Mexico, market entry and expansion, corporate structuring, permitting, financing, leasing, employment matters, and other strategic cross-border business transactions involving Mexican operations.

Carlos has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America for Real Estate Law every year since 2013 and by Chambers Latin America as a Leader in the Field for Real Estate since 2016

  • Represented companies with their manufacturing operations in Mexico, including work related to incorporation, permitting, construction, financing, acquisition, leasing, employment, and other general business transactions in Mexico.°
  • Represented U.S. and Canadian lenders in connection with commercial cross-border loans secured by real estate and other property and intangibles in Mexico and Arizona.°
  • Represented U.S. manufacturers of gaming equipment and machines with respect to sales and other transactions in Mexico.°
  • Represented one of the largest loan servicers of commercial mortgage loans in the United States in connection with regulatory issues concerning servicing of securitized loans secured by real property in Mexico.°
  • Advised a publicly held mining company in the negotiation, due diligence, corporate incorporation, and acquisition of mining claims in Mexico.°
