Greenberg Traurig Welcomes Austin Appellate Lawyer Heidi Bloch

AUSTIN – Feb. 14, 2019 Elizabeth “Heidi” G. Bloch, a prominent Texas appellate lawyer, has joined the Austin office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP as a shareholder. The addition of Bloch to the firm further extends the depth and experience of Greenberg Traurig’s Texas Appellate Practice while also strengthening the firm’s already robust foothold of more than 125 attorneys in Texas.

Bloch will focus her practice on appellate matters in the areas of general commercial litigation, construction litigation, and energy and natural resources disputes, in addition to alternative dispute resolution.

“The firm has an exceptional appellate practice and it will remain an area of focus as we continue growing our presence in the Texas market,” said Dale Wainwright, a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig’s Austin office and chair of the firm’s Texas Appellate Practice. “With the addition of Heidi to our team, we know clients, especially those in the energy sector, will find incredible value from her tenure and expertise in the appellate arena.”

Bloch has represented clients before state and federal courts in virtually all aspects of appellate practice and is a former chair of the State Bar of Texas Appellate Section. She is Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law and Civil Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Bloch previously headed the Appellate Section and served as a partner for nearly three decades at one of Texas’ oldest law firms, Brown McCarroll, which later merged with Husch Blackwell LLP.

“In Greenberg Traurig, I found the positive urgency and culture of collaboration that align with how I work. Greenberg Traurig’s approach, as well as global platform, will best meet the needs of my clients and allow me to further grow my practice and impact,” Bloch said.

Bloch has been recognized by Texas Super Lawyers since 2012. She also received an AV Preeminent rating of 5 out of 5 by Martindale-Hubbell, as well as an Amicus Service Award in 2018 from the International Municipal Lawyers Association. Bloch earned her law degree from the University of Texas School of Law and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

“We are very excited to have Heidi join our firm and the Austin office. Our strategy in Texas—and firm-wide—is about finding the finest practitioners who have as their top priority to produce stellar results for our clients. Heidi exemplifies those standards, and we are proud to get to work with her,” said Thomas J. Bond, managing shareholder of the firm’s Austin office and co-chair of its Texas Government Law and Policy Practice.

Over the past 12 months, Greenberg Traurig’s three offices in Texas—Austin, Dallas, and Houston—have had top-tier practitioners join in key areas of legal practice and industry sectors, including M&A and private equity, banking and finance, commercial and business litigation, power and energy, labor and employment, health care, tax, real estate, and Latin America.
