FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Aug. 4, 2025 –Greenberg Traurig, P.A.’s Global Insurance Regulatory & Transactions Practice Chair Fred E. Karlinsky was honored with the Florida Insurance Council (FIC)’s Mark Trafton Distinguished Service Award at its 2025 Summer Symposium July 31 at the Four Seasons Fort Lauderdale.
The award, named in memory of former lobbyist and regulatory consultant Mark Trafton, recognizes recipients for their exceptional commitment and service to the association, according to the FIC. Karlinsky was recognized for his work that has helped shape Florida’s insurance sector and policies.
“It is an honor to receive the Mark Trafton Distinguished Service Award,” Karlinsky said. “Mark was an inspiration to me personally and to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His dedication and service to our industry was unparalleled and receiving this award named in his honor makes it that much more meaningful. I am grateful to the FIC for this recognition and proud to be part of an association that is dedicated to the advancement of Florida’s insurance industry.”
A shareholder in Greenberg Traurig’s Fort Lauderdale and Tallahassee offices, Karlinsky has over 30 years of experience representing insurance companies, reinsurers, and a wide array of related entities on regulatory, transactional, corporate, and governmental affairs matters. He is a recognized authority on insurance regulatory and compliance issues and regularly leads insurers’ corporate and mergers and acquisitions transactions. He also serves on Greenberg Traurig’s executive committee.
Karlinsky has represented the FIC for nearly two decades. Additionally, he is an adjunct professor at Florida State University College of Law, where he chairs the board of visitors. Since 2014, he has served on and currently chairs the Florida Supreme Court Judicial Nominating Commission. He also serves as the Florida Supreme Court Historical Society’s president.
