Greenberg Traurig’s Ernest LaMont Greer Among the Georgia Trend 2022 ‘100 Most Influential Georgians’

ATLANTA – Jan. 6, 2022 – Ernest LaMont Greer, co-president of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, has been named to the Georgia Trend 2022 “100 Most Influential Georgians” list. Greer is among the business, education, and civic leaders making an impact on the state “who have inspired and spearheaded efforts to meet and beat challenges in virtually every corner of the Peach State,” according to the publication.

Selected by magazine staff, Greer was cited by the publication for his work with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta where he and his wife, Patrice, were 2021 Legacy Award honorees, as well as for his involvement in the strategic direction he provides Greenberg Traurig. This new honor further recognizes Greer as representing “the best qualities of leadership, power, character and influence the state has to offer,” per Georgia Trend.

As co-president, Greer is one of few African American executives at an Am Law 20 firm. He plays a key role in the firm’s day-to-day operations and is dedicated to continuing to shape the firm’s brand as a collaborative law firm providing high-quality legal work and excellent service to clients and the communities it serves. Greer also serves as chairman of the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. Previously, he served as vice president of the firm, co-chair of the U.S. Strategic Committee, and the Atlanta office’s managing shareholder.

Greer’s leadership, accomplishments, and legal practice have been recognized by many industry publications and organizations, including being named as The Atlanta Business League’s 2021 CEO of the Year and announced as a 2022 inductee to the Junior Achievement (JA) of Atlanta Hall of Fame. Additional accolades include recognition by the National Law Journal (Equality Trailblazer), Atlanta Magazine (Atlanta 500 – The Most Powerful Business Leaders in Atlanta; Top 100 Attorneys in Georgia), The Atlantan (Philanthropist of the Year), Atlanta Business Chronicle (Most Admired CEO; Corporate Diversity Champion; 100 Most Influential Atlantans), The Daily Report (Distinguished Leader), and National Bar Association (Heman Marion Sweatt Award, Sankofa Award). In 2018, Greer was inducted into the Gate City Foundation’s Hall of Fame.

Greer is not just a highly accomplished business attorney; he is an outstanding leader and champion for his community. He uses his global position to reflect the firm’s commitment to dedicating time and talents through active involvement in communities in which they live and work. In doing so, Greer served as the chairman of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce in 2014 where he was the first lawyer to serve in this capacity in the Chamber’s more than 100-year history. At present, he serves on the boards for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, the Atlanta History Center, Achieve Atlanta, the Atlanta Police Foundation, the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, and Equal Justice Works. Greer also currently serves as the director of Buckhead Coalition, is a member of the Rotary Club of Atlanta, and the Atlanta Chapter of the National Association of Guardsman, Inc.
