Jonathan E. Giroux is an experienced intellectual property attorney whose practice covers patent prosecution, IP transactions, and IP litigation. He helps clients – from Fortune 50 enterprises and multinational corporations to mid-sized companies and startups – develop and implement effective intellectual property protection strategies aligned with their business goals.

Jon has significant experience in patent prosecution for advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, backend computing, FinTech, electrical devices, and mechanical devices. He manages U.S. and international patent portfolios, guiding clients through the entire patent application process. He develops tailored patent filing strategies and seeks to ensure that the scope of protection supports each client's commercial objectives, strengthening their competitive advantage.

In his IP transactions practice, Jon represents both licensors and licensees in drafting and negotiating technology licenses across a range of industries. He is skilled in structuring technology licensing agreements that address specific business needs, and he works to efficiently achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. He also conducts IP due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, helping buyers and sellers evaluate and secure intellectual property assets in corporate transactions of all sizes.

Jon’s intellectual property litigation practice includes representing clients in competitor disputes and defending against non-practicing entities (NPEs or patent trolls). He has litigated complex cases involving technologies such as consumer electronics, linear actuators, data transmission protocols, cybersecurity, automotive safety systems, and business method patents (including electronic check routing, mass marketing, and banking transactions). His litigation strategies are designed to protect clients' IP rights and support their broader business interests.

Committed to understanding each client’s technology and business landscape, Jon proactively identifies IP risks and opportunities in product development, operational changes, and emerging technologies. He provides practical, business-focused legal counsel to help clients maximize the value of their intellectual property assets.
