Zak Ellis is a trial lawyer and member of the Intellectual Property Litigation Practice in Greenberg Traurig's Dallas office. Zak represents clients in patent infringement, trade secrets, and other intellectual property disputes. He has experience working with Fortune 100 companies and technology clients in federal court litigation, particularly in the Western District of Texas. His practice encompasses all phases of litigation, from pre-trial discovery through trial and post-trial proceedings. Prior to joining the firm, he served as a law clerk to both the Hon. Alan D Albright and the Hon. Derek T. Gilliland in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas and helped manage one of the country’s largest patent dockets.

  • Participated in a one-week trial obtaining a jury verdict finding that the defendant willfully infringed client’s patent relating to real-time dental scanners and awarding of $11.875 million—before enhancement (Western District of Texas).°
  • Co-chaired bench trial and obtained $4.46 million judgment plus attorneys’ fees in trade secrets suit (Western District of Texas).°
  • Participated in bench trial regarding equitable defenses in patent infringement suit and obtained finding that infringement claims were not estopped (Western District of Texas).°
  • Argued numerous Markman hearings and obtained claim construction rulings for clients.°
