Greenberg Traurig’s Jack S. Gearan and Amanda L. Carney to Speak on MetroWest HRMA Webinar

BOSTON – Sept. 11, 2023 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP Boston office Shareholder Jack S. Gearan and Associate Amanda L. Carney will present on the MetroWest Human Resource Management Association’s (HRMA) webinar, “Make Your Employee Handbook Work For You,” Sept. 14. They will discuss maintaining employee handbooks, including compliance and leave policies, training management, and more.

MetroWest HRMA hosts monthly meetings featuring guest speakers who present and discuss HR topics such as compensation, career management, HR strategy, and legal issues including sexual harassment, discrimination, and FLSA/FMLA. 

A MetroWest HRMA board member, Gearan concentrates his practice in the areas of Labor & Employment and Litigation. He defends companies and public institutions in labor and employment, business, and consumer actions, including class and collective actions. He is experienced in complex employment litigation and trials, and frequently handles state and federal whistleblower claims, non-compete and restrictive covenant litigation, trade secret, wage and hour litigation, and individual employee discrimination, harassment, and retaliation litigation and arbitrations. Gearan’s litigation practice covers a variety of business torts, including misrepresentation, fraud, contract disputes, and claims under Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 93A – the Massachusetts unfair trade practices statute.

Carney concentrates her practice in the areas of Commercial Litigation and Labor & Employment law, where she defends public and private employers as well as individuals, in a broad range of matters. She has diverse experience handling employment cases involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and numerous other personnel and workplace issues arising in state and federal courts and before state and federal agencies. Carney regularly provides counseling to clients on employment-related compliance issues pertaining to wage and hour laws, harassment, discrimination, reasonable accommodations, restrictive covenant agreements, hiring practices, internal investigations, and employee handbooks/policies.
