Sandra Applebaum, M.D., is a member of the Pharmaceutical, Medical Device & Health Care Litigation Practice in Greenberg Traurig’s New York office. With more than 17 years practicing allergy medicine as a licensed physician, she began a career in law focusing her practice on the representation and defense of manufacturers in products liability litigation, with an emphasis on pharmaceutical, medical device, and health care litigation. She has been involved with a variety of complex matters in both state and federal courts, including multidistrict litigations ("MDLs") and mass torts.

Sandra’s education and experience as a physician and scientist informs her approach to defending claims brought against medical-device manufacturers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and health care providers. She utilizes her experience to create legal strategies that harmonize scientific and clinical messaging across complex matters. With Sandra’s skillset, clients turn to her to recruit, develop, and manage affirmative scientific experts; to develop effective cross-examination of and motions to exclude opposing scientific experts; to depose health-care-provider fact witnesses; to develop the facts of scientifically or clinically complex cases; and to leverage scientific and medical literature to the benefit of clients as part of the fact and expert discovery process. In addition, Sandra has been involved in the preparation of pharmaceutical risk assessments for various clients.

While in law School, Sandra worked as a judicial intern for the Honorable Claire C. Cecchi, U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey whose docket included may pharmaceutical and medical device related matters.
