Tim Bass is an accomplished trial attorney who focuses his practice on business disputes and financial institution litigation. He has substantial experience in commercial leases, real estate matters, employment claims, executive liability, business frauds, bonds, investments disputes, insurance coverage contests, construction defect claims, and personal injury/product liability lawsuits. Tim routinely serves as lead counsel on jury trials and arbitrations, and has wide-ranging courtroom experience in multiple jurisdictions across the country. He clerked in the Virginia courts after law school, and regularly appears before those judges, but also frequently litigates in Maryland and the District of Columbia on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants. He is also a founding member of the firm's eDiscovery & eRetention Practice, which concentrates on the preservation, management, and retrieval of electronically stored information.

- Prosecuted claims on behalf of a national bank and bond insurer for defaults on construction bonds issued to municipal authorities.
- Defended national bank in claims designed to circumvent payments of special assessments used to fund bond payments.
- Absolved one of the largest brokerage firms from liability for various securities fraud and suitability claims in multiple cases brought before FINRA, NASD and NYSE Arbitration Panels.
- Defended major financial services advisor in claims arising from alleged mismanagement of investment account and life insurance policies.
- Defended former CFO of a public hospital in claims brought in the context of bankruptcy litigation.
- Defended former Executive VP of a medical service provider who was sued for negligent oversight of company’s regulatory compliance activities.
- Obtained multimillion-dollar recovery for C-Suite executive who assisted in developing a unique software program for his former employer.
- Defended employer in defamation, discrimination and wrongful discharge matters brought by a former executive.
- Defended police department in discrimination claims brought by a former officer.
- Represented large-scale employer in multiple discrimination claims.
- Successfully sued to enforce restrictive covenants associated with employment contracts.
- Litigated several construction defect coverage claims involving condominium complexes and spas built in Las Vegas.
- Defended multiple CGL coverage claims arising from aviation related personal injury and property damage claims.
- Investigated and defended various coverage claims and liability lawsuits arising out of an employee's theft of $180 million in surety bonds.
- Litigated property damage claims and insurance coverage claims arising out of 9/11.
- Defended against E&O coverage claim brought by a North Carolina accounting firm.
