Ben Fechter is a trial lawyer in Greenberg Traurig’s Miami office and a member of the Litigation Practice. He represents businesses and individuals in complex commercial disputes in state and federal courts, drawing on deep courtroom experience developed both as a civil litigator and felony prosecutor.

Ben has more than 1,000 hours of courtroom experience and has served as first-chair attorney in more than a dozen jury trials. He represents clients throughout all phases of litigation, including pre-suit investigations, pleadings, discovery, depositions, dispositive motions, mediation, trial, and post-trial proceedings. His experience includes complex commercial disputes involving contracts, business torts, partnerships and ownership interests, trade secrets, and other business-related claims. Additionally, through GT’s pro bono program, Ben regularly represents indigent clients who are facing criminal charges.

Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, Ben served as an Assistant State Attorney of the Broward County State Attorney’s Office, where he managed a substantial felony caseload and regularly presented cases to judges and juries. Before that, he practiced commercial litigation at a large, regional law firm.

Ben earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he served as Articles Editor of the Florida Law Review and was a National Competitor and Final Four Advocate on the Florida Trial Team. He also received the 2018 Dean’s Leadership Award. He earned his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Connecticut, where he was selected as the student speaker for the 2012 commencement.

  • Represented a dental-services company in complex fraud litigation arising from a substantial acquisition and commercial-services relationship with a publicly traded health care company.
  • Pursued commercial claims on behalf of a heavy-haul transportation company against a specialized-equipment manufacturer and dealer arising from the sale of an allegedly defective 60-ton trailer.
  • Secured a commercial client’s ownership rights to a property tract in proceedings supplementary action in Palm Beach County.°
  • Provided counsel to local sheriff’s office relating to potential claims arising under purchase of defective enforcement drone.°
