Blakeley Oranburg focuses her practice on complex litigation matters. She handles virtually every phase of litigation, including research, drafting and argument of substantive and procedural motions, discovery, and preparing for and conducting trial.

  • Represented one of the world’s largest petrochemical companies in defending allegations that its predecessors owed a duty of care to Iranian refinery workers from 1954 to 1973 by virtue of their participation in the Iranian oil consortium. Managed day-to-day activities including discovery, preparing substantive pre-trial and trial motions, and preparing case and trial strategy. Obtained monetary and issue sanctions against the plaintiff and his counsel for discovery violations and the application of Iranian law to bar the plaintiff’s claims for punitive damages, strict liability, and joint and several liability. Ultimately, the Los Angeles Superior Court granted petrochemical company’s motion for summary judgment, confirming that petrochemical company did not owe a duty of care to Iranian refinery workers.°
