Greenberg Traurig Expands Litigation Practice in Nevada; Adds Akke Levin

LAS VEGAS – Aug. 5, 2022 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP continues the strategic expansion of its Litigation Practice in the Las Vegas office with the addition of Akke Levin as of counsel.

Levin previously served as a senior deputy attorney general in the Nevada Attorney General’s Office, overseeing complex litigation matters including defending state agencies, handling public records request appeals, and managing business licensing disputes, among other cases. Before her post in government, she spent 15 years in private practice at a highly regarded boutique law firm where she handled multiple appeals before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Nevada Supreme Court.

“Akke has solid experience in both private practice and in the public sector,” said Jim Mace, managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Las Vegas office. “Her versatile legal background includes the ability to manage all stages of trial and places her in an excellent position to mentor the junior litigators in the firm’s Las Vegas office.”

“Akke brings a wide range of experience across industries important to Nevada’s economy. She has represented developers during Las Vegas’ real estate boom and counseled corporate clients on issues of fraud,” said Michael J. Bonner, managing shareholder of the Las Vegas office. “Akke also finds pro bono work fulfilling, having previously sought and obtained reparations for Holocaust survivors.”

“Akke is a meticulous researcher with a sharp eye trained on the facts of every case,” said Mark E. Ferrario, co-chair of the firm’s National Construction Law Practice. “Her skills as an excellent legal writer coupled with her depth of litigation experience will undoubtedly benefit our clients, providing them with sound trial strategy and execution.”

Levin, who was a professional dancer for nine years, credits this background as giving her a discipline that has aided her law career. Originally from the Netherlands, she speaks fluent Dutch and French as well as conversational German and Spanish. Levin received her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Nevada Las Vegas, William S. Boyd School of Law, an LL.M from Open Universiteit in the Netherlands, and a B.A. from the Rotterdam Dance Academy.
