Diane J. Blagman serves as Senior Director of the firm's Government Law & Policy Practice in the Washington, D.C. office. Diane brings more than 25 years of federal advocacy experience representing corporations, coalitions, and trade associations, including local governments, public sector entities, transportation companies, technology corporations, and organizations in the arts and entertainment industries, among others. She utilizes her knowledge of the political and budget process to strategize, develop, and implement federal legislative and regulatory agenda and complex public policy advocacy strategies.

Diane works with clients to secure funding through the federal grants and appropriations process and represents clients before government, administrative, and regulatory agencies. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Diane works with companies across wide ranging industries around the United States and world to navigate, monitor, and advise on federal legislative and executive branch developments. She specifically advises clients with respect to federal funding opportunities.

She draws from firsthand experience working across party lines on Capitol Hill, serving as a Chief of Staff to a senior Member of Congress who was Chairman of the House Transportation Appropriations Subcommittee and as Associate staff on the House Appropriations Committee. Her experience also includes extensive volunteer public service and political engagement.

Erfahrung

  • Obtained millions of dollars in federal financial assistance for major counties in the U.S. through the appropriations process in Congress for such items as funding for airport expansion, airport expansion, and other infrastructure and economic development
  • Advocated and represented a number of music organizations, which resulted in passage of the Music Modernization Act, which is regarded as the most sweeping reform to copyright law in decades.
  • Secured additional immigration, customs and agriculture inspectors at various airports in the U.S. through Congressional earmarks and successfully fought against increased taxes levied against airlines as initially proposed by Congress.
  • Identified and obtained new road construction funds through Congress for a privately held concert venue.
  • Represent major songwriter and performing arts organizations on emerging issues in the entertainment industry before Congress.
