Michael Donald Burrows has wide-ranging commercial litigation experience in trials and arbitrations involving corporate trade and business, international jurisdictional disputes, corporate investigations, securities, entertainment, and partnership law.
Mr. Burrows is the co-author of “The Practice of International Litigation,” Vol. I & II (Trans Jur. Pub. 1992, 1994).

- Base Metal v. Russian Aluminum, 253 F.Supp.2d 681 (S.D.N.Y. 2003), aff’d sub nom., 98 Fed. Appx. 47 (2d Cir. 2004). Lead counsel for 11 defendants in international civil Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) action.
- Horowitz v. Emerson Assocs. LLC, 888 F.3d 13 (2d Cir. 2018). Represented successful defendant -- established Second Circuit precedent: (a) New York law provides an LLC “member” with derivative rights not just to prosecute, but also to defend, litigation on behalf of the LLC; and (b) district courts may award attorneys' fees as part of costs under Rule 41(d) “to serve as a deterrent to forum shopping and vexatious litigation.”
- Doscher v. Meyer, 2019 NY Slip Op 08171 (2nd Dep’t 2019). For defendants -- in defense of a defamation action, each of the prevailing defendants, as the "successful parties," were entitled to a separate award under CPLR 8303-a of attorneys’ fees up to $10,000.
