Three Greenberg Traurig Attorneys Named to 2022 Crain’s Chicago Business ‘Notable Women in Law’ List

CHICAGO – Sept. 2, 2022 –Shareholders Tiffany S. Fordyce, Gretchen N. Miller, and Rita M. Alliss Powers from global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Chicago office were named to the Crain’s Chicago Business 2022 “Notable Women in Law” list.

According to Crain’s, the annual list recognizes women with distinguished legal careers who serve as role models and have shown the ability to effect change. The three were recognized for their success and accomplishments over the last 18 months.

Tiffany S. Fordyce is chair of Greenberg Traurig’s Chicago Labor & Employment Practice. Her employment litigation practice includes all types of discrimination and retaliation claims, wage and hour claims, trade secret misappropriation claims, whistleblower claims, restrictive covenants, Fair Credit Reporting Act claims, Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act claims and WARN Act claims. She also advises clients on ways to avoid litigation by counselling on a variety of employment-related matters. Fordyce serves on the board of the Women’s Bar Foundation and is a member of the Black Women Lawyers’ Association of Greater Chicago. She was previously recognized by Crain’s Chicago Business as one of “Chicago’s Notable Minority Lawyers.”

Gretchen N. Miller is co-chair of the firm’s Products Liability & Mass Torts Practice. She focuses her practice in toxic tort, product liability, and class action litigation in state and federal courts. As national counsel, she oversees products liability, toxic tort, and commercial litigation nationwide and advises clients on risk management strategies. In addition to her litigation practice, she counsels manufacturers, distributors, and retailers regarding product safety issues and regulatory compliance. Miller serves as the chair of the Defense Research Institute Products Liability Committee, and she is on the Chicago advisory board of Good Sports, a charity focused on providing athletic equipment to children in underserved communities. Earlier this year, she was shortlisted for the Euromoney “Women in Business Awards – Best in Product Liability.”

Rita M. Alliss Powers is co-managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Chicago office and co-chair and founder of the firm’s Real Estate Litigation Practice. Powers concentrates her practice on counselling real estate clients in all facets of their pre-litigation challenges and disputes, and advocacy in their litigations, trials, arbitrations, and mediations across the nation. Covering asset classes from commercial to agricultural to industrial, she takes pride in solving her client’s joint venture, financing, landlord-tenant, development, and construction issues and disputes. Powers is on the board of the Chicago Metropolitan Family Services’ Legal Aid Society, one of the first organizations in the nation to provide legal services for the poor. The Real Estate Litigation Practice group she founded was recognized this year as “Law Firm of the Year” in Real Estate – Litigation U.S. News -Best Lawyers, adding to its same accolade in 2017, and she previously was named a Client Service All Star in the BTI Client Service All-Stars Report, among other accolades.
