Greenberg Traurig Expands Into Sacramento

Top Lobbying Law Firm Livingston & Mattesich Joins Greenberg Traurig

SACRAMENTO, CA -- September 28, 2005 -- The international law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP today announced it has come to an agreement in principle, subject to working out some professional details, to join forces with Livingston & Mattesich Law Corporation, one of the top lobbying law firms in California’s state Capitol. The combination will add 15 of the city’s most influential governmental affairs lawyers, skilled lobbyists and litigators, making Greenberg Traurig’s new Sacramento office one of the most effective government and business related practices in the state.

Greenberg Traurig has one of the nation’s leading Governmental Affairs practices, with more than 60 practicing professionals across 17 of the firm’s 31 locations.

Fred Baggett, Chairman of the firm’s Governmental Affairs Practice group commented, “Livingston & Mattesich is precisely the firm Greenberg Traurig was looking for to expand our National Governmental Affairs practice to Sacramento. Our strong presence in Silicon Valley and Southern California, coupled with Livingston & Mattesich’s impressive capabilities at the state and local levels, positions the new Sacramento practice as the best solution for any client or company confronting regulatory, administrative or legislative challenges here in California.”

“We’ve had the privilege of representing high-profile clients and constituencies throughout the state of California and the city of Sacramento for more than 23 years,” said Gene Livingston, Founder and Principal of Livingston & Mattesich, who will serve as the managing shareholder of the office. “As our clients’ businesses continued to expand, we recognized our ability to provide quality national support was vital to their ongoing success. The unparalleled breadth and depth of Greenberg Traurig’s Governmental Affairs practice, among others, matches that of our clients and will enable us to offer them seamless service and integrated governmental affairs solutions on a national basis, as well as immediate access to Greenberg Traurig’s full capabilities.”

“We are quite proud to join Greenberg Traurig. We are sad to retire the Livingston & Mattesich moniker. It has been a symbol of highly professional, quality legal services in California since 1982. We are hopeful that the Sacramento community will quickly recognize that Greenberg Traurig represents the same thing. Greenberg Traurig will be us and a whole lot more,” said Carol Livingston.

With the combination of Livingston & Mattesich Law Corporation, Greenberg Traurig’s Sacramento office will offer local, national, and international clients extensive expertise in the area of governmental affairs, covering all aspects of state legislative, administrative, and regulatory law, including litigation. The office’s full-time lobbyists and lawyers will also bring a unique blend of services combining advocacy with business litigation and strategic counseling.
