Jerry Carter advises public and private companies as they enter, operate, and expand in the United States and Japanese markets. Jerry has represented major Japanese and US companies, across various industries in both the United States and Japan, in connection with cross-border transactions, corporate governance, and regulatory and compliance matters. Jerry focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, general corporate and commercial matters, joint ventures, and private equity transactions. In addition, Jerry routinely advises on real estate related matters with a particular focus on multi-asset purchase and sale transactions and complex joint ventures both inbound into Japan and outbound into the United States. Finally, Jerry has particular experience in hospitality industry transactions, including integrated resorts and related facilities.

Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, Jerry worked at a leading international law firm in Tokyo, and at a boutique law firm in Chicago, representing Japanese companies in connection with complex cross-border mergers and acquisitions and corporate and commercial matters.

Jerry has lived in Japan for a number of years, can read, write, and speak the Japanese language, and lectures at a top law school in Japan.
