London Graduate Recruitment

Greenberg Traurig London Overview

Greenberg Traurig LLP, founded by three U.S. lawyers in 1967, is now a global powerhouse with over 3,000 lawyers in 50 locations worldwide. Established in London in 2009, GT’s London office has expanded through strategic growth to become a full-service, multidisciplinary practice with more than 150 high-calibre lawyers. We advise UK and international clients across many sectors on a range of complex legal matters and are ideally positioned to help clients on cross-border mandates through our local footprint coupled with the resources of GT’s vast global, unified, and collaborative platform.

GT London typically recruits eight trainees per year. Our select and comprehensive two-year training programme comprises four six-month seats across our Corporate, Real Estate, Litigation, Banking & Finance, Funds, Tax and Regulatory practices and offers trainees the opportunity to undertake a client secondment from the second year of their training contract.

Trainees will join shareholder led practice groups, engage with clients, and get involved with high-profile and complex legal matters from day one. Through continuous mentorship, high quality training, and a collaborative work culture, we ensure our trainees have the guidance and skills needed to excel during their training contract and beyond.

Applications for our 2027 and 2028 training contract are now open. To apply, please click here. Applications will close on Friday 16th January 2026 at 23:59.

“Aside from intellect, we’re looking for enthusiasm and a willingness to learn and be pushed outside of your comfort zone. We’re also looking for a real interest in what we do.” James Mountain and Jessica Ganagasegaran

When and where can I apply?

Applications for our 2027/2028 training contracts are currently open. You can apply via our recruitment portal here. Applications will close on Friday 16th January 2026 at 23:59.

Do you recruit on a rolling basis?

No, we do not recruit on a rolling basis. All applications will be screened near the deadline date and invitations to the next round of the recruitment process will be sent after applications have closed.

I have submitted my application. When can I expect to hear back?

Successful candidates will be contacted and invited to participate in the next stage of the selection process by Monday 23rd February 2026.

Do you provide funding for the SQE and PGDL?

Yes, we provide full sponsorship to our future trainees for the pre-requisite courses prior to commencing their training contract and our current maintenance grant is £17,000 for both courses.

We require all non-law graduates to complete the PGDL before commencing the SQE. If applicable, successful candidates that have not yet completed the PGDL will need to complete this with our chosen provider, prior to the SQE.

Do you run vacation schemes?

We do not run vacation schemes. Applications for our training contracts are direct only.

I am not eligible to work in the UK and would require sponsorship. Can I apply?

As a firm, we do hold a sponsorship licence and accept applications from candidates requiring work permits.

I am already qualified as a lawyer in another jurisdiction. Can/should I apply for a training contract?

We do not accept applications from internationally qualified lawyers for our training programme. In this case, we would advise candidates to consider self-funding their SQE (if applicable) or apply directly to our lateral hire positions.

To whom shall I address my cover letter to and how long should my application be?

Applicants should address their cover letter to the Graduate Recruitment Team. We advise CVs to be between one to two A4 pages long and that cover letters are no longer than one A4 page.

As a firm you now adopt the SQE route to qualification. I have completed the LPC. Can I apply?

Yes, we accept applications from candidates with the LPC. We are currently not asking candidates who have completed the LPC to also complete SQE 2.

I applied to Greenberg Traurig previously. Am I eligible to re-apply?

You are more than welcome to apply to us again. However, if in a previous year you reached the interview or assessment centre stage of the process, you should be mindful that it may be more difficult for you to get through the process again.

How do I detail any mitigating circumstances relating to my academic achievements?

Applicants are welcome to append details of their mitigating circumstances to their cover letter or CV.

I require reasonable adjustments and I would like to discuss what adjustments you can make for me during the recruitment process. Whom should I contact?

We are committed to ensuring that our recruitment process is fully inclusive and as barrier-free as possible. This includes making reasonable adjustments for candidates who require it. If you wish to discuss adjustments or issues at any stage of the recruitment process, please contact us and we will be happy to help you.
